York Racecourse
York is one of the premier race tracks in Europe and has recently won the Flat Racecourse of the year award. It also has award winning modern grandstands, stunning listed buildings and beautifully manicured lawns. Whether you are a serious about racing, love horses or just enjoy having a good day out with friends, York racecourse has it all.
York Theatre Royal
The York Theatre Royal is found on St Leonard's place. It was built in 1744 over and among the ruins of the medieval St Leonard's Hospital. The theatre has undergone various renovations over the years but retains its original beauty and splendour. Check out their website for details on plays and workshops.
York Viking Centre
Known as "Jorvik Viking Centre" this is one of the UK's most popular tourist attractions outside of London; over the last 25 years 15 million people have visited the centre. Wander through reconstructed Viking streets as they would have been in the year AD795. Everything you see at the Viking Centre is based on archeological evidence discovered between 1979 and 1981 by the York Archeological Trust during the Coppergate excavations. In total they unearthed 40,000 objects, including a Viking toilet!
Yorkshire 4x4
For all you adrenalin junkies.... You can tackle rough terrain on a 4x4 off road driving day or take on the challenge on a quad bike.
