    Hidden away in the countryside between Sandsend and Runswick Bay, this absolute find of a gastro pub is all too easy to miss.  In the short time that the restaurant has been open in its current guise it has managed to collect a host of heavyweight accolades and fans.  The menu is top notch, with local organic produce lovingly crafted into the most finger licking dishes.

    A firm favourite with GW, this highly acclaimed seafood bistro and restaurant on Bridge Street is the perfect choice for dinner.  Taking adavantage of the mass of fresh produce delivered daily from the sea, Green's husband and wife team Rob and Emma have created a stylish seafood restaurant to rival any Lonon eatery.

  • Shop at the Humble Pie 'n Mash, a Gorgeous Weekend Recommended Eaterie

    Humble Pie 'n Mash

    The Humble Pie 'n Mash shop dates back to the 1600's when it is thought to have been a cobbler's and a dressmaker's, today it sells traditional British pie and mash.  Found on Church Street on the east side of the river it serves homemade organic pies baked fresh everyday.  There is also a choice of vegetarian pies which can be enjoyed with mash, peas and gravy. Although you can buy the pies to take away, the cosy rustic-chic interior makes it the perfect boltholt if the weathers not so good.

  • Dine at the Moon & Sixpence, A Recommended Restaurant From Gorgeous Weekend

    Moon & Sixpence

    The Moon & Sixpence was the first of several champagne and oyster outfits to spring up along Whitby's waterfront. There is a substanial lunch and dinner menu to accompany the oyster specialities and the view across Whitby harbour is fantastic.

  • The Hatless Heron

    A relaxed cafe-bar on Church Street near the Abbey steps, the Hatless Heron serves up good quality traditional pub food; think pizza/steak and chips. The Laura Ashleyesque interior, central position and good selection of continental beers makes it a pleasant spot to relax after lunch and people watch for a while.

     

  • The Marine

    The brassiere style restaurant in this boutique hotel has an enviable location on Marine Parade overlooking the harbour.  The innovative brunch menu has a mouth-watering array of gorgeous treats, like the Chorizo and Black Pudding or classic Eggs Benedict.  Most afternoons you’ll find someone tinkering away on the house piano, providing the ideal soundtrack to a lazy, indulgent lunch. 

  • White Horse & Griffin

    Although this excellent restaurant is in the perfect location in the centre of town, it’s easy to saunter past it.  Found on Church Street on the east side of Whitby towards the Abbey Steps, the candle-lit traditional interior and well stocked oyster menu make it the perfect venue for a romantic tryst.  As well as a fantastic ‘Power Breakfast’ option with optional Bucks Fizz and Bloody Mary to soothe any morning after affects, the main menu has a great selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes.      

  • Woodlands Eat

    This gorgeous little cafe / restaurant near the beach in Sandsend hits exactly the right note in terms of style and substance.  Woodlands Eat is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with food prepared by the very talented young chef Alex Perkins.  Front of house is managed by Alex's fiance Natasha so it's a real family affair.
